Last week, Heidi Allen, MP joined children at Elsworth Pre-School painting pebbles to be hidden around Elsworth village this summer for families to find.
As well as being a fun activity for local families encouraging creativity and outdoor adventures, Elsworth Pre-School is running linked events to fundraise including a Prosecco, Pudding and Pebble Painting night for grown ups.
Elsworth Pre-School manager Julie Fretwell explains “It’s fantastic that we have a dedicated volunteer committee putting on events that benefit families. In the past fundraising has been about extras like new play equipment. Now we increasingly need to fundraise for core costs as the ‘free’ government funded childcare hours amount has been frozen since 2017 while wage and pension costs increase. We’re really grateful to Heidi Allen for listening to our concerns as part of the Early Years Alliance Fair Future Funding campaign and for helping us launch Elsworth Rocks”.
Congratulating the Pre-School on the initiative Heidi Allen said: “I’m delighted to support Elsworth Pre-School’s fundraising ‘Elsworth Rocks’ initiative. This is a wonderfully imaginative way to engage the local community and raise vital funds for our Pre-School. I will certainly be keeping my eyes peeled in July for some fun finds and look forward to seeing what our villagers manage to create!”
The Prosecco, Pudding and Pebble Painting evening is at Elsworth Sports Pavilion 7.30pm on 9th July. Tickets £10 including a drink and choice of desserts can be bought from Elsworth village shop or can be reserved by emailing email@example.com
Photos of pebbles found in the village can be posted on Elsworth Rocks Facebook page.
