Heidi Allen, MP for South Cambridgeshire today asked Theresa May to boost education spending as part of her legacy drive before she leaves office. Heidi co-ordinated a cross party letter to the Prime Minster asking her to take action in advance of the Treasury Spending Review which is not due to be published until later this year.
Heidi said ‘Colleagues and I have repeatedly raised education funding in the House via debates, questions or letters to Ministers. I’m asking the Prime Minister to commit funding now to help schools meet the cost pressures that have been bearing down on them for the past 3 years. The Prime Minister has a unique opportunity to provide a cash injection that will help schools stabilise their provision in the short term until the new fairer funding formula is published in the Spending Review in the autumn.’
